Bangkok Airways is a major airline of Bangkok, Thailand. Suvarnabhumi Airport in Bangkok is the main base of Bangkok Airways. This is a regional airline of Bangkok operates services to 20 destinations located in Vietnam, Singapore, Myanmar, Maldives, Laos, Japan, China and Cambodia.
Bangkok Airways was established as Sahakol Air operating services under an American construction organization, USOM under OICC contract and other companies involved in exploration of natural gas and oil in the Gulf of Thailand. Scheduled services of this airline begin in the year 1986 and were the first private domestic airline of Thailand. In 1989 the airlines was renamed as Bangkok Airways. The owners of Bangkok Airways are Dr Prasert Prasarttong-Osoth with a share of 92.31%. Other owners are:

Siem Reap Airways is a fully owned subsidiary of Bangkok Airways. Bangkok Airways has its own airport in Ko Samui, which started operating in 1989. In 1996 the second airport of Bangkok Airways was opened at Sukhothai Province. Trat Province is the third airport built by Bangkok Airways.
