Xian Climate

The Xian climate is largely responsible for the growth of human settlements in this region. Xian was known as Chang'an in ancient times. For more than a 1000 years this city had served as a capital of China. One of the earliest traces of civilization, in China, have been traced in this region.

Xian is located in the southern part of the Guangzhong plain. The city is located at a height of about of 400 meters above sea level. The winter season is cold, and dry, and the summer season is warm, and humid. The three consecutive months of July, August, and September are marked by heavy downpours. The region of Xian receives an annual rainfall of 1100 mm, on an average. The average annual temperature of this region is 56°F (13°C). The seasons of autumn and spring are quite pleasant.
